Stryker Logistics President and Founder Fuji Avdic recently traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet with the nation’s lawmakers in support of the logistics industry.

Avdic said he received a lot of support.

“It was a great experience knowing I’m building relationships that will benefit the logistics industry,” he said, recently reflecting on the trip.

Chris Burroughs, senior director of government affairs with the Transportation Intermediaries Association, said the trip was a part of the annual TIA 3PL Policy Forum, where more than 80 of TIA from all around the country, including Avdic, flew to D.C. to lobby on behalf of their businesses and the 3PL industry as a whole.

The Transportation & Logistics Hiring Reform Act of 2017 — HR 1568 and S. 1345 – was the main focus of the discussion during this year’s forum.

“The bill would enhance interstate commerce and promote safety in the transportation marketplace,” Burroughs said.

Avdic met with Rep. Brett Guthrie and staff from Sen. Mitch McConnell’s and Sen. Rand Paul’s offices.

“We are hopefully the bill will move through this Congress to the President’s desk,” Burroughs said.
