Stryker Logistics was proud to discuss the needs of the logistics industry with U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie, R-Ky., at its Bowling Green offices on Wednesday.

Owner and President Fuji Avdic said he was excited for the opportunity to share the company’s story with Rep. Guthrie.

“He really showed a lot of interest and support in us coming over as refugees and building a company, and taking advantage of what America has to offer,” Avdic said.

Avdic said the chance to show Rep. Guthrie what Stryker Logistics does first-hand and how the team makes a successful business run was important.

Supporting the 3PL industry’s needs

Chris Burroughs, senior director of government affairs with TIA, said Stryker Logistics was selected as a stop for Rep. Guthrie in order to highlight the job creation and value the company brings to South Central Kentucky.

TIA is also looking for Rep. Guthrie’s support on a piece of legislation that would create a national hiring standard for motor carriers. This legislation would eliminate frivolous, negligent selection lawsuits against 3PLs and brokers based on flawed safety data, Burroughs said.

Avdic said Rep. Guthrie seems willing to look into the concerns of the 3PL industry.

Carlos Brinas, operations manager for Barton G based in Miami, was also in town for the meeting and to express his support for Stryker. Brinas said he has never worked with a company that takes the time to get to know its customers and their needs the way Stryker has.

“It’s the relationship their company has with ours,” Brinas said. “It goes beyond business. It brings you home.”
